The transmission line project has been implemented through a separate Joint Venture (JV) of the OTPC, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), and NER beneficiary states. The shareholding structure of NETC is as follows:

North East Transmission Company Limited (NETC) – a joint venture of ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited (OTPC), POWERGRID and States of NER was incorporated on 26th August 2008 as per the provision of Companies Act 1956 with an objective to develop transmission line to evacuate power from 726.6 MW Gas Based Combined Cycle Power Project (CCPP) of ONGC Tripura Power Company (OTPC) at Palatana, Tripura.
The transmission line from Palatana is connected to the states of Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam through sub-station at Silchar, Azara and Bongaigaon. The transmission line is of route length of 662.8 Kms of 400 KV D/C EHVAC level.
